In the 1700s, Edinburgh entered a golden age of architecture. Inspired by their grand tours of Italy, returning architects shaped the city into the elegant and distinctive place we see today.
Built across seven hills, Edinburgh offers sweeping views, striking historic buildings and a truly unique atmosphere. Edinburgh Castle is a must-see, the nightlife is vibrant, and if you’re a golfer, you’ll find no shortage of excellent courses to enjoy a morning round. Travel time from us: approximately 7 hours. We couldn’t finish without mentioning one of our own local gems: Blenheim Palace.
Just north of Oxford, this magnificent stately home is steeped in history. Birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and the current home of the Duke of Marlborough, it offers grandeur, beautifully landscaped grounds, and no shortage of things to explore. There’s always something happening here too, from classic car shows to seasonal events and even medieval jousting. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed and memorable autumn day out.
